Message from Vice Chancellor

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all of you to the Distance
Education Programmes offered by Kuvempu University. With great
pleasure I would like to record that the Distance Education Council
of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi has accorded
recognition to Kuvempu University for offering programmes through
distance mode.
Kuvempu University is a young and vibrant University in its Silver
Jubilee Year. It is a centre of educational excellence. It has a
distinctive profile, as nature has blessed the University campus
with lush green surroundings and totally unpolluted environment.
Western Ghats and the Bhadra Reservoir are very close to Kuvempu
University, thus the campus is just the right place for all those
who want to pursue higher education and research without any mundane
distractions. At the same time, it has the state of the art
infrastructure and other facilities of a modern University. Kuvempu
University draws its rich cultural heritage and legacy of the
region. The confluence of religious, cultural and social movements
of the region has provided rich cultural resources.
The distance education programmes of Kuvempu University were
initiated during the academic year 2002-03 through the Directorate
of Distance Education. Over the years many new courses have been
added, during this year DEC of IGNOU has recognized our Distance
Education Programmes. The year, 2012-13, marks an important
milestone of the University as it celebrates the Silver Jubilee
Year, as well as the Decennial Year of its DDE.
This website gives you the necessary details about this
multi-faceted University and the programmes offered through distance
mode. I am sure that your endeavour to seek higher education through
distance mode in the relevant area of your interest with Kuvempu
University will bring you a rewarding experience, and make you a
multi-skilled individual prepared to take up the challenges of the
